Check out this ARTICLE about Camp Lawton, a Union prisoner camp back in 1864.
Some of the artifacts are in good condition for being found in 2010 but its very cool and a great way to kick off my blog.

  1. Hey there CivilWarKid

Good luck with your new historical blog about your interest in the Civil War. We are proud of you. Many years ago when we would take you to the Maryland and Pennsylvania battlefields and set you on the cannons we were hoping to plant some seeds of interest. We just never knew they were going to sprout and grow with the 1st Minnesota Vol. Infantry at Fort Snelling in MN.

Congratulations on your recent 2 day living history event at the Historical LeDuc Estate Civil War History Days.

  3. I am so proud of you, I know how much you love participating in the 1st Minnesota events, you count the days. It gives me chills seeing you in your uniform- so real!

Glad we found that old shell button for your reenactment shirt. If anyone out there comes across some old authenic bone, shell or wooden buttons,he could sure use a couple more on his shirt.

Keep your love of the Civil War going,

    love always,
    Grandma

I was going to leave some really cool fact about what happened in Ohio during the civil war, BUT... I was never good at history. Maybe you can make a post about that for me!
